Many challenges accompany the transition to adulthood. Leaving home, attending university, looking for and being in a serious couple relationship and seeking and starting work requires young men and women to become increasingly independent – physically, psychologically and financially. The emotional strain experienced can sometimes interfere with one’s ability to cope. Working together with a therapist can lead to greater self-awareness and insight, which in turn can lead to strengthening one’s capacity to move forward in a more robust way. This process can lead to a greater sense of well-being and more confidence in dealing with the aspects of life that had previously felt unmanageable.
